Summary: What if Whitelighter Xander didn't wait for Buffy to pull herself together and kick ass? A "What if...?" of the Moments collection.

Author's Note: The plot bunny just hit me. I have no plans to continue this.

"Ah. So you got a witch in the mix," the Hellion leader sneered.

"More than one," Tara said challengingly.

Xander looked around and ground his teeth. The situation was deteriorating. Fast. He had to do something.

His gaze drifted to Buffy, but it didn't look like the resurrected Slayer was going to be of much use any time soon.

He closed his eyes, decision made.

"We are outta here," he said, putting his arms around them.

Willow blinked, "Xander, wha-..."

He orbed.

*****

Xander had barely finished orbing when he exploded.

Literally.

"Ow, damn it!" he howled as he reformed and collapsed to his knees. "That... really... hurt..."

"Xander, what are you doing here?" Leo frowned.

"Hellions on the Hellmouth," Xander deadpanned as he rose. "Are all your charges this trigger happy?" he asked, glaring at Piper, who had the decency to look sheepish.

It was a good thing he was already dead. If he hadn't been, that would have killed him for sure.

"You're a Whitelighter."

Xander turned and blinked at Anya. "An? What's wrong?"

But the ex-demon merely shook her head wordlessly, backing away from him. Willow and Tara were staring at him, slack-jawed. They knew what a Whitelighter was.

Buffy watched everyone warily.

"'Hellions'?" spoke up a new voice. "The demon bikers?"

"You know 'em?" Xander looked at Cole.

"Heard of 'em."

"Belthazor?"

Cole blinked.

"Anyanka?"

The End

Unpolished, but what the hell.
