Chapter 1

Xander was upset at first being asked by Mrs. Summers to make sure Buffy got to New York OK. He'd rather be driving there, but he couldn't say no to Mrs. Summers. Or to the free first class ticket a guy named Xavier was sending.

The initial meetings were good. There was this brilliant redhead that looks like a tall version of a certain redhead Xander knows. Right now, she was laughing at a joke he told. 'And she is being too friendly to Buffy's friend, Xander.' Scott was getting jealous.

Jean looked at Buffy and asked, "Really? She was am eighteenth century noblewoman and thought a car was a demon? Oh, that's beautiful."

"Not as beautiful as you, Jean." Xander said before his brain caught up with his mouth. Xander was expecting the slap when, to his surprise, there was a light kiss on his cheek.

"Thank you, Xander. It's not everyday I get compliments like that." Jean said that second statement loud enough for all to hear. Especially one Scott Summers.

Xander blushed at her thanks. "Well Jean, I failed one redheaded genius, I won't do it again." As they walked off arm in arm, Xander was missed by a red laser bean over his head,

"That's my girl you're with!" Scott looked like he was going to hurt Xander.

"Really?" Xander took Jean's hands in his and examined them. "That's interesting. Buffy, could you come over here?"

Failing in her attempt to hold in her laughter, Buffy walked over to Xander and Jean. "Sure, Xander. How can I help you?"

"Your eyesight is better than mine. Do you see these well manicured nails?" Buffy nodded. "Do you see any rings on her fingers?" Buffy acted like she was inspecting Jean's fingers with a microscope.

"No. Her fingers are jewelry adjacent." Jean was doing her best not to laugh. Xander turned to Scott.

"Well, seeing as how the beautiful Jean has no ring on her finger, she is available. I should know about this, because I used to date the most popular girl in my high school and she taught me this. So, I'll back off when you get on bended knee and ask Jean to be your girlfriend. Here is a tip, be romantic. If she thinks you're doing it just to do it, she won't respect you." The three instructors of the Xavier School for the Gifted were getting a good laugh out of Xander getting the best of Scott. "You know, Chuck. I think I like this kid. And you're sure he's human?"

"Yes, Logan. Although, I'm surprised he still is considering what he's done over the last three years and what's happened to him."

"As long as he can keep Summers on his toes, he should be OK."
