Of the Phoenix

Author: Stab594 <Sponge594[at]nyc.rr.com>

Rating: R (may have an NC-17 part later)

Pairings: None planned right now

Timeline: Will jump around. I will try to label each part by the time when it occurs.

Summery: Just read the prologue.

Feedback: I will decide if I want to continue this piece dependant on the amount of feedback I receive. This is my first attempt at Fan fiction, so please be kind.

Disclaimer: I do not own any characters within. If any original characters do worm their way into the story, I will mention it during that part. HOWEVER, I do own my version of what a phoenix is. If you don't like it, tough.

A/N: I realize that there is a huge potential for crossovers within, but I haven't planned it out much as of yet (Maybe: Underworld, LXG, or Yu Yu Hakusho). If anyone else wants to use this as a jump-off point, please e-mail me and I will more likely than not give you permission and my blessing.

A/N (2): I realize this part may seem OOC but I think of it as several hundred years in the future.

Prologue

I am one of the few of my kind. We live and die, only to be born anew and live and die again. In this continuous cycle of pain and torment, I have tried to find my place, to make order out of chaos, and to uphold my ideals.

My species is immortal. Cursed to be born as a baby within days of our death, we arrive among the ashes of our corpse. We are dependant upon others for three years after our deaths, during which time we grow from mere babes to full grown adults. Because of this, we are the ultimate chameleons. Our bodies mold themselves to the form of the species that finds us. We learn quickly during our three years as children. We learn the ways, languages, and abilities of our adopted species. If we are smart, and lucky, we can utilize all we have learned in every life thereafter.

Of course this may seem to be a blessing to many, in my mind this is a true curse. Forced to live forever while those whom you consider family die is the hardest part. The pain of losing friends and loved ones is unbearable at times and yet my kind cannot even relieve themselves of that pain because The only time we can truly be killed for all eternity is during the forty-eight between our individual lives.

My name is Xander Harris.

I am of the Phoenix.

And these… Are my tales.
