It was the popping noise that freaked him out. It was almost like a gunshot, but there was this pinkish disk of light… Right over the bed at his extra cheap hotel room. But then a girl, with skin of the same pink, fell out of the disk, landing on his bed. That was equally weird, but possibly not so dangerous.
Cautiously, he leaned closer, trying to get a look at her. Pink skin. Purple hair. Bruises. Exhausted.
He had the feeling that she might have been trying to run… jump… blink? away from danger. And somehow, she'd ended up in his hotel room. This wasn't what he'd expected for his graduation present road-trip. Was she human? Demon? Mutant?
Sighing, Xander dug out some aspirin, and ordered pizza. She'd probably be hungry when she woke up, and if she wasn't, he was.
As he lifted the first slice, he heard a groan. "I have pizza and aspirin."
"Thanks." Her voice was a faint whisper. "I'm not dead?"
"No."
Her hand shook as she reached for the pills and water. "I'm Blink."
"Xander." He opened the bottle for her.
"Thanks." She swallowed, and looked up at him. "Where am I?"
"Oxnard."
