"Tabitha." He kissed her, hugging her tight. "Have I mentioned how much easier this is with you?"
"You like to watch things go boom more than I do." She giggled, and leaned against him. "You never did tell me how you got into this."
"You ever hear that high school shapes the rest of your life?"
"Yeah. Mine sucked." She hadn't let go, but her eyes were on the flames now.
"For me, that was literal. It's also when I found out about vampires." For a moment, he closed his eyes, remembering. "I didn't do college, and didn't fit when my friends did, so… here I am."
"Traveling around hunting vampires." She shook her head. "Dangerous."
"But it helps people."
"Yeah. You saved us."
"Only because you didn't know how to fight them." Xander insisted.
"Love you."
Snarling, a vampire leapt from behind a car.
Hurling a crackling ball of energy, Tabitha glared. "We were having a moment here!"
Three.
Two.
One.
Vampire ashes hit the street.
